On this page
For a project, check its full name and submitting region. For a person, check both the name and associated project. A page that has not loaded its results is not evidence that no record exists.
Identify the exact record
Open the original source linked from a cultural introduction and compare the full project name, submitting region, project reference, listing batch and year. When names are similar, check the region and reference rather than relying only on a search-result title. For a person, also check the name, individual reference, associated project and submitting region; keep the individual reference separate from the project reference. Our guide to recognition records explains these fields.
What do the three kinds of date tell you?
A project’s listing year helps identify its recognition record; a report’s publication date places that report in time; our checking date indicates only when we consulted the source. To find out whether visits are available today, a class is accepting students or a product is on sale, check the relevant institution’s or seller’s latest information. An activity in an old report is not automatically a current arrangement.
How English readers can check a Chinese source
Start by copying the Chinese name in parentheses from our English article and searching for it on the original Chinese page. Personal and project reference numbers can also help you locate a passage. Finding the same name is only a first step: check whether the surrounding text concerns the same region, subject and time. A search match does not establish that a whole claim is supported.
Next, narrow the English claim you want to check to one specific question, such as “Whose learning experience is this?” or “In which year did the reported activity take place?” Keep the complete supporting sentence and any context needed to understand it, then compare it with the English. Browser translation can help with an initial reading, but if a person’s name, craft term, negation or time condition remains unclear, do not reach a firm conclusion from the automatic translation alone. Record the unclear wording and original link, and keep the uncertainty visible.
Finally, distinguish “what the original explicitly says”, “how this website explains it” and “what evidence is still missing”. An official page may support one fact without answering your other questions; a working link cannot replace checking the relevant passage. Our English text is an editorial translation based on Chinese sources, not an official translation supplied by the publishing institution.
If the original will not open
Note the original title, publisher and link, then search the institution’s website using the full name. If the original remains unavailable, keep the information marked as unverified. Do not treat a search excerpt as complete evidence or infer that a project or person does not exist. When comparing pages, check whether they reproduce the same article: multiple republications are not multiple independent sources.
